6 hours after the start of Bhola, BNP called off the strike
The morning-evening hartal called in Bhola to protest the death of the district Chhatra Dal president and Svechasevak Dal leader in the police-BNP clash has been called off. Six hours after the start of the hartal, district BNP president Golam Nabi Alamgir announced the withdrawal of the hartal.
Golam Nabi Alamgir made this announcement at a press conference at district BNP office in Mahajanpatti on Thursday around 12 noon today. At this time he thanked the people of Bhola for spontaneously observing the hartal for six hours.
Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, Golam Nabi Alamgir held an emergency meeting with party leaders at his residence and announced the strike. After that morning-evening hartal started in Bhola from this morning. Due to the strike, all types of traffic were almost stopped on Sadar Road, Kheyaghat Road, Bir Shrestha Mostafa Kamal Road, Ilisha Road, Muslimpara Road, Bhola-Charfashion Road of the city since morning. However, BNP kept the strike relaxed outside the city. As a result, long-distance vehicles were seen plying from Birshrestha Mustafa Kamal bus stand in the city since morning. However, the shops in the city have not been seen to open since morning.
A crowd of leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations was seen in front of the district BAP office in Mahajanpatti area of Sadar Road in the city since dawn. Leaders and activists gathered there with fragmented processions from different areas.
As part of the central program last Sunday, Bhola district BNP organized a protest rally and protest program to protest against the increase in prices of daily commodities including gas, electricity and load shedding of electricity. After the rally in front of the district BNP office, two and a half hundred leaders and workers took to the streets to protest, and the police beat them with batons. The two sides clashed. A volunteer group leader named Abdur Rahim Matbar was killed and many others were injured in the firing. The president of Bhola District Chhatra Dal who was injured in that clash. Noore Alam died yesterday while undergoing treatment. Two people died in the clash.
