A student from Pune is the new CEO of Starbucks
Laxman Narasimhan is the next chief executive officer (CEO) of Starbucks, a multinational coffee house chain based in Seattle. He will take charge on October 1. This was said in the news of CNN in the American media.
Starbucks on Thursday announced Laxman Narasimhan as the company’s next CEO. He will also be a member of Starbucks’ board of directors. Narasimhan will join Starbucks as CEO on October 1, 2022, soon after moving to Seattle from London. He will become a member of the board on April 1, 2023.
Laxman Narasimhan joined in October but will take the helm from April 2023 after months of learning about the company’s plans, CNN reported. Until then, Howard Schultz will lead as interim CEO.
With the election of Laxman Narasimhan as Starbuck’s CEO, the list of Indian-origin executives has grown. Sundar Pichai at Google, Parag Agarwal at Twitter are now Indian CEOs of big commercial companies. Narasimhan was earlier associated with Reckitt Benckiser. He led this organization during the Corona pandemic.
Laxman Narasimhan with 30 years of experience was born on April 15, 1967 in India. He was a student of Pune College of Engineering, Pune, Maharashtra, India. He then studied German and International Studies at The Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. He holds an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Narasimhan started his career by joining McKinsey. He was in this organization for about 19 years. He was the head of McKinsey’s Delhi before leaving the firm in 2012. Narasimhan joined PepsiCo in 2012.
He served as CEO of PepsiCo’s Latin America, Europe, Sub-Sarahan Africa operations. Narasimhan was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations of the Brookings Institution.
