The investment in Sabrang is 2 thousand 876 crores

The work of Sabrang Tourism Zone in Teknaf is progressing. Already the first phase of soil filling has been completed and the overall progress of the project area has been more than 50 percent. So far 18 domestic and foreign companies have received approval to invest in Sabrang. The implementing agency, Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA), said investors will be able to start building the facility early next year.

This special tourism area is being developed on about 1 thousand acres of land in Sabrang area of ​​Teknaf upazila, 80 km away from Cox’s Bazar. Bezar has plans to develop this area as an international quality tourist area on the model of Pattaya in Thailand.

According to Beza, 18 companies interested in investing in the Sabrang Tourism Zone have been approved to allocate around 140 acres of land so far. The institutions will invest about 302.8 million dollars or about 2 thousand 876 crore rupees.
On July 16, the government approved the investment proposal of the last seven companies in Sabrang Tourism Park in Cox’s Bazar. The new approved institutions will invest 944440000 US dollars or 897180000 Taka. In the previous two financial years, 11 companies were approved to invest in Sabrang.

Investors will build five-star hotels, cottages and resorts, sports and environment-friendly facilities here. More than 10 thousand people will be employed in these institutions. Apart from this, there will be various facilities including clock tower, lake, golf course, ecopark, jetty. However, as the land development work of the project area has not been completed, their land has not yet been conveyed to them.

16 of the companies investing in Sabrang are domestic. They are White Orchid Guesthouse, Moonlight Overseas, Great Outdoors and Adventure, Green Orchard Hotel and Resorts, Sunset Bay, Bismillah Marine Services, Ifad Autos, Ifad Motor, East-West Travels and Tours, Patwari Enterprises, Dard Composite Textiles of Dard Group, Dard Garments and Deepta Garments. Bangladesh Police Welfare Trust and BCS (Administration) Multipurpose Welfare Cooperative Society will also invest in hotel-resort in Sabrang.

Apart from this, two foreign companies will build hotels and facilities in Sabrang area. The two companies are Singapore-based Inter Asia Group and Netherlands-based company Lizard Sports.

Among the companies investing in Sabrang Tourism Park, Singapore-based Inter Asia Group is investing the most. They are going to build hotels, motels and resorts at a cost of 855 crore taka (90 million US dollars) on 83 acres of land in this tourist area. About 6 thousand people will be employed here.

Among other institutions, Bangladesh Police Welfare Trust will build a hotel and resort for tourists at a cost of 323 crores (34 million) on 10 acres of land. About 288 people will be employed here. BCS (Administration) Kalyan Multipurpose Cooperative Society is getting 10 acres of land in Sabrang Tourism Zone to build a five-star hotel. The organization will invest 106 crores and 87 lakhs here.

Green Orchard Hotel & Resorts and Sunset Bay will invest around Tk 251.65 million to build a five-star hotel. Great Outdoors and Adventure is going to construct eco-friendly facilities related to sports on three acres of land in the tourist area.

The company will invest as much as Rs.52 crores. They will provide facilities for tourists like snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, beach volleyball etc. Moonlit Overseas will build a hotel, motel and resort on three acres of land at a cost of 74 crore rupees. About 936 people will be employed here.
